Description
Yan Bingwu, a native of Beijing, was born in 1954. A master stamp designer at China's Department of Ministry of Posts Telecommunications, he won the Best Stamp Painting award in both 1980 and 1982. Some of his most acclaimed works of stamp paintings are "Chinese Ancient Scientists", "Chinese Ancient Bronze Vessels", "Mountain Tai" and "Scenery of Emei Mountain." The commemorative stamp "Dr. Norman Bethune" he painted was adopted by the Canadian government. His artworks have been featured many times in national exhibitions both in China and internationally, and collected by the National Art Gallery. Yang Wenqing was born in Beijing in 1951. He graduated from the oil painting department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 1978. Beginning in 1986, Yang became a professional stamp artist. His stunning stamp designs include many of China's scenic mountains and rivers, including Husashan Mountain, the two Hengshan mountains, the Changjiang River and the Yangtze River. His designs also include subjects such as the 1500th Anniversary of Shaolin Temple, Ancient Temples in the Wutai Mountain, Three Gorges on Yangtze River and the Great Wall of China. Yang received first prize in China's 1989 Best Stamp of the Year competition with his beautiful design of Mount Husashan. Yang served as the Industrial Artist of the Postage Stamp Printing Bureau in Beijing.
