Description
Introduced in 1946, the Douglas A-1J Skyraider was the Navy's first single-seat dive bomber. Capable of flying for long periods and delivering an amazing amount of firepower with a high degree of accuracy, the Skyraider served for years as the backbone of the Navy's carrier attack forces.
This painting was originally commissioned to illustrate the Republic of the Marshall Islands 33¢ A-1J Skyraider stamp issued June 1, 1999.
