Description
The tank-killing prowess of the Fairchild Republic Co. A-10 Thunderbolt II "Warthog" came to the world's attention on February 25, 1991, during the Persian Gulf War. Armed with 30mm cannon and carrying 16,000-pound loads of mixed ordnance, one "Warthog" made a number of sorties and succeeded in destroying 23 Iraqi tanks and damaging 10 others. First Flight Date: October 1975
This painting was originally commissioned to illustrate the Republic of the Marshall Islands 32¢ A-10 Thunderbolt II Hornet stamp issued July 19, 1997.
