The American F-80 Shooting Star was developed in response to Germany's rapid advances in jet aircraft technology during World War II. An F-80 drew first blood in the Korean War.
This painting was originally commissioned to illustrate the Republic of the Marshall Islands 32¢ F-80 Shooting Star stamp issued November 10, 1995.
